A found-art sculpture made my a friend and artist, Nicolas Caesar (www.scary-art.com)
From a photo shoot in early 2005. We wanted to play around with his sculptures and give them sort of a vintage feel, showing his usually very dangerous art in a sort of softer setting. Her description according to Nik, the artist: "Spider Lady Mary, the patron Saint of Spiders. She is strongly designed after The Virgin of Guadalupe only dangerous. I had met Clive Barker a long time ago at a horror convention and he was talking about his Hellraiser series and how he felt that everything was uneven. The cenobites were unchallenged and he wanted to create a series of characters polar opposite of the demonic Pinhead, Chatterer, and so on. This is what I built on that theory. I don't believe Saints, Angels or any deit[ies] should be passive." |
